NCCN campaigns in Europe for international support for the smooth continuation of the peace process in Nepal
Tuesday 19th of June 2007 [ ???????, ???? ५, २०६४ ]

General Secretary of the National Council of Churches of Nepal (NCCN) Dr. K. B. Rokaya  is  campaigning in Europe  for international support  for the smooth continuation of the hard-earned peace process in Nepal. From 13-15 May, Dr. Rokaya visited Brussels meeting with Members of the European Parliament and officials of the EU Council as well as number of Brussels- based Human rights organisations. In London, Dr. Rokaya  met with officials at the UK foreign Office, Members of Parliament,

representatives of Amnesty International and Chatam House. He was interviewed by Premier Radio and BBC World Service. On behalf of the Christian community  as well the wider religious community in Nepal, as General Secretary of the National Council of Churches of Nepal and Vice-President of the Inter-Religious Council Nepal, Dr. Rokaya has been sharing his concerns about the slow progress in Nepal’s peace process and the imminent  risk of the country sliding back into war once again  and asking the international community to take note of the situation in Nepal and play

positive and proactive role to make the stalled peace process move forward and lead to permanent solution of the political crisis in a peaceful manner.  Dr. Rokaya’s trip to Brussels and his meetings in London were supported and organised by the London based Christian Human Rights organisation Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW). 

                                                                                                                   

Dr. Rokaya went to UK at the invitation of the Church of Scotland to take part in their General Assembly which took place in Edinburgh, Scotland from 19-25 May 2007.  While in Edinburgh, Dr. Rokaya addressed the

assembly and met with many groups and individuals highlighting on the general situation in Nepal and seeking their support to make the peace process in Nepal successful.  He was also interviewed by BBC radio on the problem of human trafficking in Nepal.
